PAC ACTIVITIES

Pride Athletic Club

 The Leesville Road High School (LRHS) Pride Athletic Club (PAC) is a voluntary organization originally established by a group of parents in the early days of LRHS to support athletic programs and student athletes at the high school. Funds raised by the PAC through memberships and from PAC fund raising activities have made it possible to make athletic facility improvements, purchase sports equipment, and otherwise support the LRHS sports programs. It is important to remember all funds raised by the PAC are returned 100% to the school athletic programs.

A Message from John Lemanowicz, 2006-2007 PAC President:

I would like to thank everyone who supported the PAC activities this past year and made our 2005-2006 contributions to the LRHS Athletic Programs possible. Your dedication and work in support of LRHS programs is priceless. This past year we have had so many folks volunteer in support of the PAC that it is impossible to name everyone, so I will just thank you all as a group and ask that you continue helping out as you can..

Thanks to your efforts this past school year the PAC was able to contribute to LRHS Athletic programs about $76,000 in cash and capital projects for the year 2005-2006 including the following:

(i) purchased ($6982) equipment for the LRHS weight room;

(ii) purchased ($860) a Pride Logo stencil for use on LRHS athletic fields;

(iii) purchased ($708) timing/scoring software for the LRHS track program;

(iv) purchased ($4358) a shoot-a-round machine for the LRHS basketball programs;

(v) purchased ($8,482) a new scoreboard for the LRHS baseball field;

(vi) paid ($17,740) for a landscaping project which included a tree wind screen around LRHS tennis courts and work on the visitors side of the LRHS outdoor stadium;

(vii) purchased ($6736) a landscaping tractor for use on LRHS athletic fields;

(viii) contributed a payment of about $20,500 to the LRHS Athletic Department representing 60% of PAC membership dues for the 2005-2006 year which according to PAC by-laws is made to the athletic department; and

(ix) contributed $10,000 towards the PAC activity bus Certificate of Deposit which is our long term savings plan towards the purchase of a new activity bus when needed in the future.

PAC OFFICERS

The PAC Officers for the 2006-2007 school year are set:

President : I have been elected for my third year as President. This will be my last year as President as our only child Max is entering his senior year. Further, according to PAC by-laws no person may serve in a particular Office for more than 3 years. Accordingly, please consider volunteering for this position or let us know of an individual who you think might be interested in filling this role. I would like to identify someone soon so that they could learn the position while I am still here.

Vice President : April Lyon has agreed to fill this position and will be nominated and voted on at the next PAC meeting. Thanks April!!! Thanks to 2005-2006 VP John Hawkins for his many contributions. We are very pleased that John has agreed to continue to help out as his business permits.

Treasurer : Fred Wollman has been elected for his third and final year as Treasurer. Fred is the unsung hero of the PAC. He toils many unseen hours managing our budget, paying bills, doing taxes, and basically keeping us on the sound financial footing that we enjoy. Fred also oversees the summer camps programs for the PAC. Fred, many thanks!!!

Secretary : Jackie Saxton has been elected PAC Secretary for the 2005-2006 year. Jackie – many thanks for agreeing to fill this position!!!

Concessions Manager : Kim Fitzsimmons has agreed to take the job of PAC concessions manager for the 2005-2006 year. Kim – many thanks for agreeing to fill this position!!! Please give Kim all of your cooperation throughout this first year running concessions. Special thanks to Sharen Jaeger who has managed the PAC concessions stands during the past several years. The concessions stands have been a solid money maker for the PAC under Sharen's guidance. Thanks Sharen!!!

Membership Manager : Krisy Sims has agreed to take on the job of PAC Membership manager. Many thanks to Krisy for stepping forward!!! If you would like to help out with memberships please contact Krisy.

Golf Tournament : My wife Nanci Lemanowicz has agreed to coordinate the running of our golf tourney this year. This year's tourney is being held Friday, October 6th at 1PM at Wildwood Green. This is the day of the Homecoming football game and we are encouraging alumni to come out to play in the tourney along with the rest of us. If you would like to play, and/or participate as a tourney sponsor, or would like to help out please contact Nanci. We will get more information out to you as we finalize plans.

We have several other committee positions to fill, including Spirit and Ways and Means. If you are interested in leading or serving on such committees let me know.

Summer Camps

We have had the most kids at our summer camps in recent memory (over 400). A big thanks goes out to Fred Wollman and Julie Pennington for overseeing this for the PAC. Also, thanks to all of the LHRS Coaches who ran or will run camps this year. Your support in this important PAC fund raiser is appreciated.

Membership

You will be receiving membership forms in the LRHS mailing this month. The membership fees are the same as last year and of course include receipt of PAC passes. Last year we had our best year ever with memberships and we would like to do even better this year. Last year we gave out a few PAC memberships to those in our community who were having a tough time e.g., family illness, lost job, etc, to try and ease their burdens. If you know of any families that are going through such a situation, please bring it to our attention.

Sponsor Drive

April Lyon, as PAC VP, is heading up our yearly summer sponsorship drive. If you would like to help April with the drive, would like to become a PAC sponsor, or know someone who might be a possibility to be a PAC sponsor, please contact April. The summer mailing also includes information and forms for program ads, program good luck wishes, and sponsorship participation.
