Old Business
PAC Memberships : Membership mailings will go out in the July 11 th flyer to all students' families. Dr. Gainey reported that there are currently 2,394 students enrolled for the 06/07 school year. PAC will prepare 2,500 flyers to go out.
Concessions: Track meet brought in approx. $800. Slushy's did fairly well, we will try them again at the soccer tournament and see how they do. Will be discussed further to see if we would like to use the slushy machine at the start of the football season.
Remaining inventory from the concessions was sold to the Junior Legion Baseball team to sell at their games.
Camps : Fred Wollman reported camp registration was going great. 317 registered as of 6/5/06, we had a total of 347 last year. First camp starts Wednesday the 14 th of June (Baseball)
We will be purchasing first aide kits for the coaches to have at summer camps.
Question was raised about having a trainer on site for all camps? Coach Pridgen will be on site until July 1 st . Fred will talk to the other coaches to see if they feel it would be necessary.
Janice Schmittle commented that she had helped with physicals and they found they needed a larger blood pressure cuff for some students. Was there any interest in purchasing one? Coach Hamilton said that Coach Pridgen has funds for equipment as she needs it. John stated that if she did not have the funds for some reason, then the PAC would be happy to purchase one for her.
Bricks : John had gotten a quote from Matt Wilson. The different dimensions and prices were discussed, a motion was made by Nash Corzine and 2 nd by Nancy Lemanowicz and approved by all members present that we would go with an 8x8 square which will hold 288 bricks at a cost of $4,500. John will send Dr Gainey all the details and he will check with the county to see if we need anything further. We currently have approx. 100-150 bricks purchased. A suggestion was made to put a flyer in the July mailer regarding the bricks and possibly advertise with the memberships. Would like to have the bricks down by the start of the football season.
Golf Tournament : John has talked to Mike Stainback and will be meeting with him. Nancy L. has spoken with Wildwood Green, the tournament is set for October 6 th with a shotgun start at 1:00pm. Will continue to discuss food, a suggestion was made by Nancy L. to offer a hot dog cart somewhere along the course, and drinks at no cost. A suggestion was made to make the tournament in memory of Sue Zagiba and some of the profit would go to a charity in her name – we will continue to discuss. Everyone is asked to get out and start getting sponsors for the tournament.
New Vice President : The PAC is still in need of a vice president. April Lyon has expressed an interest in the position, however could not be at tonight's meeting. We will get April to the next meeting and nominate her with a formal vote if she is interested and in the meantime see if there is anymore interest in the position.
John will coordinate with the new VP on sponsorships. John Hawkins has addresses of last year's sponsors and will get those to us so that letters can be sent out.
New Business
Blankets : Mark Slawson presented to the PAC an idea for a fundraiser. He had an example of a tapestry throw that he had designed. He is willing to design something for Leesville . He stated that if you have a minimum order of 25, they price at $23 a piece and we could sell them for approx $60. They are typically at a 2 week turn around time. Mark will come up with a design for the tapestry's and bring them to the next PAC meeting for us to look at and discuss.
Stars : Janice Schmittle reported on the star pins that were given out along with a certificate of excellence. These were given to all athletes that made the honor roll. Leesville had 548 athletes this year – 486 of them received star pins – 88.6%. 163 of them played 2 sports and 8 played 3 sports. 62 did not make the honor roll. Dr. Gainey stated that this is a huge accomplishment for our athletes and something to be very proud of.
Recognition : At the conclusion of the meeting Dr Gainey presented John Lemanowicz, president of the PAC a plaque in appreciation of his leadership role and commented on how much John was respected.
